GHGT-18 Side Events

Organised by third parties alongside the main programme, side events offer another chance to connect with the CCUS community and explore the topics that matter to you.

Alongside the main GHGT-18 programme, a range of side events will provide additional opportunities for delegates to connect, exchange ideas and engage with the wider CCUS community in a more informal setting.

Organised by third parties, these activities will complement the conference programme by creating space for discussion, networking and community-building around the issues that matter to the sector.

Together, these activities will add a social and community-focused dimension to GHGT-18, helping delegates build connections and conversations that extend beyond the usual conference programme.

Please note that side events are not part of the official GHGT-18 conference program and are organised and managed independently. All bookings, enquiries, any payments, and arrangements relating to these must be made directly with the organisers through the available links. GHGT-18 and its organisers are not responsible for the administration, operation, content, safety, or delivery of any side events and accept no liability for any changes, cancellations, losses, damages, costs, or claims arising from participation in, or in connection with, the side event.

Additional Site Visit: Monitoring innovation at the CSIRO In-Situ Laboratory

Please note that this additional tour is not part of the GHGT-18 conference program and is organised and managed independently by CSIRO. All bookings, enquiries, payments, and arrangements relating to the tour must be made directly with CSIRO through the link available on the website. GHGT-18 and its organisers are not responsible for the administration, operation, content, safety, or delivery of this tour and accept no liability for any changes, cancellations, losses, damages, costs, or claims arising from participation in, or in connection with, the tour.

Date & Time: Saturday 31 October, 8:15am – 4pm
Departure: Bus departs at 8.15am from the Crown Towers concierge area
Cost: AU$120pp – Lunch, transport, facility access, PPE, and light refreshments are included.

Join fellow GHGT-18 delegates for a full-day technical tour exploring one of Western Australia’s leading carbon capture and storage research facilities. This unique experience will take participants to field-scale geological monitoring, providing a rare opportunity to see how scientific research is advancing practical CCS solutions.

The tour travels south to CSIRO’s In-Situ Laboratory near Harvey, approximately two hours from Perth. This world-class research facility is one of Australia’s leading field-scale sites for geological CO₂ storage and monitoring. Delegates will visit the Harvey wells and observe how advanced monitoring technologies—including fibre-optic sensors, geophones and seismic tools—are used to track the movement and behaviour of CO₂ underground in real time. Located within a fault-zone geological setting, the site offers researchers rare opportunities to study how CO₂ behaves in complex subsurface environments and to refine monitoring techniques critical for safe and effective carbon storage.

This visits provide a comprehensive look at real-world monitoring of stored carbon underground.
