Bringing carbon management to life
Public understanding of the need for carbon management, and the role it can play in addressing climate change, remains limited. This knowledge gap can leave space for accidental or deliberate misinformation to spread.
At GHGT-18, we are bringing together a range of engaging, hands-on activities and resources to help attendees explore CCUS and carbon management in accessible and memorable ways.

Geoscience Australia
See CO₂ in action with an optical gas imaging camera. This interactive demonstration reveals CO₂ emissions and leakage and helps bring to life how CO₂ can be stored safely underground.
FluidFlower
University of Bergen and collaborators
Explore geological storage through a colourful tabletop model. The FluidFlower uses pH-sensitive fluids to create a visual representation of processes taking place during CO₂ storage in the subsurface.
Do We Need to Worry About Our Water?

What happens to groundwater if a CO₂ storage project leaks? This hands-on, inquiry-based chemistry activity, designed for high school students, uses an “aquifer in a jar” to investigate what happens when CO₂ interacts with water.
Does the Earth Have a Fever?

A hands-on activity using plastic bags demonstrates how increasing CO₂ in the atmosphere can affect temperature, providing an accessible way to explore the greenhouse effect.
